If you’ve just emerged from your nuclear fallout shelter that you entered in 1976, you may not have heard of a little movie franchise called Star Wars. Well it is gloriously back. Arguably the most highly anticipated film in cinema history, the official opening date of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is this weekend, 12/18. Additionally a couple other films try to capitalize on what will undoubtedly be numerous Star Wars sell outs by opening this week as well. Sister and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip also debut and will contribute to possibly the biggest box office weekend in history.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30 years after the end of Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi when a successor to the Empire, The First Order is now threatening the galaxy with the Dark Side and it is up to a new trio of young heroes to step up and fuel the resistance.

Sisters has two sisters (hence the name) wanting to throw one last party in their childhood house now that it has been put on the market by their family. It is one heck of a party. SNL alums Amy Poehler and Tina Fey star.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is the fourth animated adventure starring the ever lovable singing chipmunks. This time they are worried that Dave is about to dump them for his new girlfriend so they must embark on a trip to “remedy” the situation.
